PROFESSIONAL TEETH CLEANING (PTC)
Even if you brush very thoroughly, you will never reach some areas despite the most thorough dental care - this is exactly where professional teeth cleaning, or PTC for short, comes in. It supports daily theeth cleaning, but does not replace it. Basically, a PTC is an intensive cleaning of the teeth, in which bacterial deposits (plaque), tartar and some discoloration are removed by our trained practice staff.
What does a PTC compromise?
-
removal of hard and soft dental plaque
-
removal of bacterial concretions
-
cleaning the interdental spaces
-
buffing/Air Flow
-
fluoridate

Why should I have a PTC done?
Bacterial deposits easily form on surfaces that are difficult to reach during daily dental care. These are eliminated with a PTC and your teeth are additionally polished. A gel or varnish with highly concentrated fluoride is then applied. This leads to the local formation of fluoride deposits, which are important for intact tooth enamel. As part of a PTC, your dental care at home will also be discussed. Discolouration caused by tea, coffee or nicotine disappears as a result of the treatment. You will also benefit from a cosmetic effect.
By the way: Professional tooth cleaning not only prevents caries and periodontitis, it can also reduce the risk of general diseases.
How often should a PTC be done and how much does the treatment cost?
How often a PTC makes sense depends on the individual oral hygiene situation. In most cases, it is advisable to have a tooth cleaning performed every 6 months. We would be happy to advise you on this.
The cost of a PTC varies depending on the effort. In our practice they range between 100 - 140 euros.
Please note that a PTC is not a regular service provided by statutory health insurance (GKV). However, some health insurance companies grant a subsidy - find out more about this from your health insurance company.
Most supplementary dental insurances and private health insurances have this service included in the insurance contract.
